Politics is a bunch of garbage if you ask me. The politicians make believe that we have a say in our government. As they say the more things change, the more they stay the same. No matter what party ends up in power they all just want to keep their power. If 100,000 people vote against someone and a 100,001 vote for someone then the electoral votes make up the results, Why can’t elections be determined by popular vote? Why do we have to leave the decision up to the size of a state. If California has a certain amount of electoral votes, and texas has a certain other number why can’t it be based on population instead. Why does it seem that we can’t directly pick our leaders? I never understand how voting can be so pointless. but a lot of people say you have to speak your mind. However, if your vote only counts towards the number of electoral votes a politician gets, what is the point in calling it a vote or saying what it is that you are trying to achieve. oh well.

Why is it that no one has to speak English anymore, the one language that could unify everyone. Why do I have to turn on the tv and find fifty channels of foreign language programming. what are the liberals thinking of? When my great grand parents came to this country they came through Ellis Island and had to have at least a basic knowledge of the language or they were apt to learn very fast because if they didn’t they wouldn’t have survived. Now a days you call for tech support or customer service and the first thing that the automated system says is that you have to dial 1 for english. It should be the other way around. By default the language should be English on the phones and you have to always dial a number for a foreign language. The people in charge of such things aren’t doing it right any way. There is only ever 1 option, other than few exceptions, where you can only get an option for spanish. Also it is the same for Most atms there usually is only one option there. Very seldomly do I find an atm with more than just spanish as the language choices. But the problem is why do we have to have any other languages in this country. Why do I have to read an instruction manual and find that 10 pages of a 230 page user guide are in English? if the product is sold in the US it should only have one language represented. I may not be right so correct me if I am wrong but if you go to a foreign country they expect you to learn their languages, they do not put up multi lingual signs or have any multilingual tv. Why do we? How do I communicate properly with someone when they don’t desire to do the same with me? I think this country is caving in on it’s own reputation. Being this diverse country and willing to bend to any culture to shape how we are we lost sight of the important thing, unity. As we draw closer and closer to a more kinder gentler society we are also coming closer to a far more distant society. Oh well. what can we do.

It will be interesting to see how today’s political climate pans out. I wonder how things would have turned out if Hillary would have garnered the democratic nomination for president. If she would have went all the way would she have taken Obama as part of her cabinet? I often felt that she had no right to be a senator from ny since she wasn’t living in ny long enough to be able to tell me, a native New Yorker, what is best for my state. It is a sad state of affairs. I am not harboring any bad feelings towards our president elect of course. I am glad to see someone rise up and do what no other could. I just hope however, that his presidency is about the issues and that it has no color. If we shift over to a different issue which I find distaste with, a Kennedy trying to fill that monster sillery crookton’s (my opinion) senate seat. I am glad that I now live in New jersey because I won’t have to see, and even as a New Jerseyite will never have to see a Kennedy in office again. I looked it up on the net and can’t seem to figure out what bobby Kennedy did that was so important, Even JFk, who was in no stances a war hero as he got a medal of honor even though his boat sank. Ted Kennedy is to this day referred to as the swimmer due to the lake Chappaquiddick affair where he left a woman for dead as their car went into the lake. Now we have Caroline Kennedy gunning for Mrs. Slick Willy’s senate seat. I hope I don’t see the day, or is it already here, where the vote that I cast means less than the paper that the ballots are written on. Maybe I am just a pessimist but I can’t handle the thought of another member of that cursed family being in office. I again Tip my hat to Obama. I was planning on voting for Colin Powell when he was originally running for office, I just wish they wouldn’t have scared him out of the running as a decorated war hero, and a good statesman he would have made a fine president. Who knows maybe Mrs. Rice will run in four years herself and add another notch to breaking barriers. Good luck to her.
